Mighty Mix Dog Food Company was established in Marlborough, New Zealand in 1993 by the Drummond family. The company's first product, Mighty Mix Frozen Dog Food Concentrate was invented by Christine Drummond, when she and husband Colin were contract mustering on a high country station during the harsh winter of 1992.

So concerned by the health of her working dogs in the trying conditions, Christine took to her kitchen to make them some food herself - using all natural products, and drawing on her background in naturopathy and homeopathy. When her dogs quickly took on a new lease of life on the "mighty mix", Christine offered it to other musterers in the area.

Word spread, and soon Christine had to abandon the kitchen, and set up shop in a large horse float to meet the demand. The Drummonds set up their factory in Blenheim a year later.

Mighty Mix Frozen Concentrate has been distributed by agents nationwide ever since.

Christine has created three more products to add to the range:

Mighty Mix Large Dog Formula: This is the base Mighty Mix Formula, great for large breeds, working dogs - from puppies to old dogs. This is a unique formulation for ALL life stages of your large breed or working dog. It has the optimum protein and vitamins and minerals for peek condition.

Mighty Mix Family Dog Formula: - is higher in protein and minerals than the Large Dog Formula. This biscuit is ideal for smaller breeds, less active dogs that eat less and therefore require higher vitamin and mineral concentration in the product. This is a unique formulation for ALL life stages of the smaller breeds and less active dog from puppies to old dogs. This formula has twice the amount of vitamin D, vital anti-oxidants, vitamin A, omega 3 6 and 9 and fiber, protein, iodine, iron, potassium, malic acid, and carbohydrates than the Large Dog Formula.

Mighty Mix Nourish Formula: Is for all dog breeds but is specifically formulated for when a little pick-me-up is needed. Ideal for those dogs who have trouble maintaining weight, and is suitable for puppies to old age. For dogs to lose weight they need a diet high in vitamins and minerals, while feeding less. Nourish is formulated ENRICHED with omega 3, 6 and 9 plus green lipped mussels making it suitable for over-weight dogs. This formula has three times the amount of vitamin D, vital anti-oxidants and vitamin A, omega 3 6 and 9 and fiber, protein, iodine, iron, potassium, malic acid and carbohydrates than the Large Dog Formula.

The biscuit range is specially formulated to Meet AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) nutrition standards that provide a complete balanced diet for all life stages of your dog.
